Here at Offer YOUR Solutions, we believe that We the People, as the ones subject to the rules we allow to be enacted and the situations we allow to occur, have a unique view of what the issues are and what the potential solutions could be. Too often, we look to elected leaders to make those decisions for us, or we just shrug our shoulders and mumble “Oh, I can’t do anything about it.”
LIES! ALL lies!!!
We most certainly can do something about it and it does not have to come to violence. In fact, violence rarely succeeds at gaining us anything we’re looking for and never for the long term.
The answer is civil discourse. Presentation of an issue, proposition of a solution, the civil discourse to contemplate it and its effects. What’s good about it? What isn’t? Are the issues we find with the solution about the solution itself or who came up with the solution?
See, the last one there hits hard with a lot of people. Why? Because it results in shared glory. A case of I found the problem but you found the solution. Rather than celebrating a bridge built and a success for both sides of an issue, we would rather keep the glory to ourselves and foment extended animosity where it should not exist.
It should also be stated for the record that this site is primarily concerned with what is going on inside of our borders rather than what is going on in other lands. This is not to demean or de-legitimize the happenings in other lands, but their issues are not ours and, until we can get our own house in order, we have no business minding theirs. Matthew 7:5 KJV says it best:, “Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam that is in thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brothers eye.”
